First Impressions

Week one and im already excited about this course. I adore all forms of technology, embracing each and every platform that comes out, so having a course based on all of these technologies and their uses in the classroom context is an exciting prospect. The aspect that im most looking forward to though and that i believe differentiates this course from other ICT courses, is that it looks at some of the more unconventional technologies in regards to classroom teaching. Technologies such as iPhones, iTouchs, iPads, mobile phones etc. Rather than looking at ICTs in the classroom as just being the children having some computer time, i hope to learn more about the use of blogs like this one or a group wiki such as the one i will be participating in as part of this course. Most classrooms today either have computers in their classrooms or at least have access to them somewhere in the school. This access to technology provides learning managers with endless opportunities to create  fun and engaging learning experiences that are relevant to the students of today. Rather than fearing technology and excluding it from the classroom context, i and other teachers need to be embracing it wholeheartedly and incorporating it throughout the learning. Technology is here to stay so its up to us as educators to make the absolute most of it whether this be wikis, blogs, iPads, iPhones or even mobile phones.
